From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I was a regular contributor to Wikipedia for a few months until September 2006, when I gave up. If Wikipedia continues to support the involvement of persistent vandals and anonymous inserters of blatant untruths, which when reverted, just reappear ad infinitum until everyone gets bored and the vandal gets his way, then no-one will take it seriously. I also grew tired of certain editors butchering my input for no reason other than to homogenise articles to suit their own idea of what is "correct" regardless of Wikipedia guidelines, even though they are incapable of contributing any new material of their own.
I have stopped work on almost everything, except the Danny Kirwan article, where I will continue to revert vandalism until the end of time, including attempts by English nationalists to include him in their dubious diaspora, as they have countless other British musicians, actors and sportspeople, without the slightest scrap of verification or proof. Just another example of Wikipedia's effective ambivalence towards the truth.
A shining example of how flawed it all is is the Jim Clark article, which is vandalised daily by the same person and no-one can do anything about it except revert and revert again. Yet another example is how it's OK when someone who knows so little about Formula One as to write "Jim Clark wasn't fit to change Michael Schumacher's tyres" can be allowed to completely doctor the Schumacher article until it resembles a Ferrari press hand-out. At least now that article is finally becoming more encyclopedic as more worthy editors get involved.
