Cassius Longinus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cassius Longinus is the abbreviated name of several historical persons:
- Quintus Cassius Longinus, with Marc Anthony, one of the pro-Julius Caesar tribunes who fled Rome in the lead up to Caesar's civil war
- Gaius Cassius Longinus (died 42 BCE), a Roman politician and one of Caesar's assassins
- Cassius Dionysius Longinus (c. 213–273 CE), a Greek rhetorician and philosopher
It is also the name given to Longinus, a name in Christian mythology for the Roman soldier who pierced the side of Jesus on the cross, in the novel The Spear by Louis de Wohl.
