[edit] Plot Accuracy
I made two changes to the article. First, it said that Totoro asked Catbus to bring the girls to their mother. Actually, he asked it to help Satsuki find her sister Mei, after which the Catbus takes pity on the sad girls and helps them get to the hospital.
Secondly, the article says that the Catbus fades away leaving only the eys and smile, ala the Cheshire Cat. This doesn't happen. As can be see here: http://www.lyris-lite.net/totoro_movie_ending-new.html the entire cat fades away. The eyes and smile are brighter so fade more slowly but the Catbus goes out of frame while his body is still visible. It's been said that older transfers of the film were much darker, so perhaps this is the cause of such misunderstanding.
Additionally I'm not sure that the Roleplaying Opportunities section of this discussion page belongs here - it looks like it ought to be on a forum somewhere, not in Wikipedia.
- You're being generous. I have the Fox VHS at home, and the Catbus can easily be seen to be fading away exactly as you describe. I think it was just someone straining to make an inappropriate but satisfying comparison. TCC (talk) (contribs) 22:26, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Is Catbus specifically a nekomata or a bakeneko? Both articles suggest it to be one. --OGoncho 03:47, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's specifically a bus-shaped giant cat. How it got that way is made explicit nowhere, and we never see it change form into anything else, as we might expect it to do if it were either a nekomata or a bakeneko. I suppose either one is a plausible origin, and the distinction between the two is vague even in legend. Perhaps we never see it change shape because we only see it in the performance of job-related duties, for which it is required to be bus-shaped.
- I must say that, with respect to the nekomata, I have had several cats older than 10 years, and none of them have exhibited much in the way of shamanic or necromantic powers. You'd think they could at least get the can of cat food open. TCC (talk) (contribs) 04:04, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

The article implied that the "kitten bus" short is no longer shown at Ghibli museum. Though this may have once been true, it is shown there now daily (along with a few other short movies... actually it is shown a couple times for each 2 hour block visitors are allowed in).
