Celtae

Celtae are a Canadian Celtic music band based out of Ottawa, Ontario.
Celtae has been performing upbeat, traditional celtic music since 2001. Celtae performs original songs and their own interpretations of select traditional songs from the Cape Breton, Newfoundland, Irish and Scottish traditions. The band's leader and primary creative force is Nathan MacDonald. MacDonald was born and raised on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, and credits that region's rich cultural tradition as a strong influence.
Celtae's debut CD, No Regrets was well received by reviewers and received considerable radio play on CBC, college radio, and on folk friendly formats. Their music has been licenced for use in radio and film, celtic compilations, and has been covered and recorded by other artists.
"Merchant Marine", an original cut off the album, was chosen to be the theme song for the Paul Ciufo's CBC drama, On Convoy.
Celtae is set to release their sophomore album in the fall of 2006.
