From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Château Phélan-Ségur lies in the commune of Saint-Estèphe in the Bordeaux region of France. It is classified as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, the highest category below the wines include in the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux. The grape varieties used are Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). The château produces about 300,000 litres of wine per year. There were some problems with the wine in the 1980's, due to pesticide contamination, but since then the château has acquired a very high reputation. As with most quality wine from Bordeaux, the wine needs to be kept for about 10 years after the vintage before drinking.
