The Corpus Christi Hammerheads are an indoor football team in Corpus Christi, Texas. They are a charter member of the Intense Football League. President Chad Dittman first attempted to bring an arena football team to Corpus Christi but it failed when he attempted to give the city an af2 franchise. The Hammerheads are coached by Ex-University of Houston QB and former IFL Star Jason McKinley, who's father Bob McKinley is a former NFL player, and is led by a strong supporting cast of players such as quarterback Wes Cooper, wide receiver Shomari Buchanan, tight end Matt Ross, and linebackers Roy Salas and DeAndrae Filmore. They played their home games at the Memorial Coliseum in 2004 and at the American Bank Center in 2005 and 2006.
Unfortunately, the team is not returning to the American Bank Center for 2007, as their arena decided not to renew their lease. [1] The Hammerheads will return for 2007, however, playing in the Central Pavilion Arena in nearby Robstown, Texas. [2]
