County Route 642 (Ocean County, New Jersey)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
County Route 642 is a county highway in Ocean County, New Jersey. The highway extends from CR 530 in Berkeley Township to Route 37 in Dover Township. This busy highway serves as a major commuting corridor and a vital link to the surrounding commercial areas for the age-restricted developments in runs through. Ocean County had plans in place to bring Mule Road from its present southern terminus to the Robert J. Miller Airpark. However, the New Jersey Pinelands Commission and several concerned residents put a stop to the proposed link and it now remains just a dirt path. The county wishes to use the dirt path with gates on each end for emergency vehicles, but must receive approval from the Pinelands Commission. CR 642 is one of Ocean County's most recent 600 routes, it sometimes shows up on maps, but it doesn't yet have a straight line diagram from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).
