Coventry Railway Centre
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Coventry Railway Centre is located south of the city, near the airport. The centre is owned and operated by the Suburban Electric Railway Association, and is home to their sizeable collection of preserved electrical multiple units. There are also some other railway vehicles on site which are owned by third parties.
The centre is not currently open to the public, although prearranged groups can be admitted by prior arrangement. It is hoped that, eventually, the site will be opened as an electric railway museum, where visitors can view preserved EMUs and ride on trains along a short demonstration line. In November 2005 SERA announced a three-year plan to renovate the site and launched an appeal to raise the required funds.
