Dead Air Space
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dead Air Space is a blog kept by members of the British band Radiohead on their website.
The blog was first started in August 2005 as a means of communicating with fans while the band work on their as yet untitled seventh studio album. In addition to using the blog to keep fans up to date on the recording process, members have posted pictures, links to various articles and have at times used it to voice their opinions on current political matters. On November 28, 2005, lead singer Thom Yorke posted a scathing article concerning the United States stance on global warming as the United Nations Climate Change Conference was taking place in Montreal.
The band prefer this method of communication with their dedicated fan base over the more traditional route where the press act as the middle man. This way, there is no skewed view as to what any member may be trying to get across. This, however, does not prevent members of the music press from reporting about each and every addition made to Dead Air Space.
In addition to Dead Air Space being a regular place for the band to inform fans of the progress of the 7th album, Thom regularly uses it to air his views on many subjects, such as the environment and the government. He also sometimes posts links he finds relevant or interesting.
