Douglas Robert Brien (born November 24, 1970) was an American football placekicker. He played for the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, and San Francisco 49ers, and was picked in the 3rd round of the 1994 NFL Draft by San Francisco out of University of California, Berkeley. He is most well-known for ripping Jets fans hearts, by missing two crucial, potential game-winning field goal attempts in the final two minutes of the New York Jets' 2004 AFC divisional playoff game with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was released by the team a couple of months after the game, but later signed by the Chicago Bears, from who he was released from later on in the 2005 season.
As a rookie, Brien won a Super Bowl ring with the 49ers after their 49-26 victory over the San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX.

At California, he left leading the school in all-time points with 288 points, and in field goal accuracy, hitting 56 out of 80 attempts, hitting 80% of his field goals for his career. He graduated with a BA degree in Political Economy of Industrial Societies (PEIS) in 1994.
