Drimnagh Castle Primary School opened shortly after the secondary school in 1957. The majority of new boys at the primary school come from the Assumption School across the road. Students attend the school from 2nd class (when they make their First Communion) to sixth class (when they make their Confirmation).
The current principal of the primary school is Mr. Eugene Duffy, a native of County Mayo and former teacher in the school.
