Dubrovnik Highlands

Dubrovnik Highlands is the southernmost tip of Bosnia and Hercegovina. The Highlands include Neum, Ravno, Popovo Valley, Trebinje, Bileća Lake and city of Bileća.
It has always had a close connection with the city of Dubrovnik. This is because in the old days, this city was a major sea port for trade and commerce. The valley has served the surrounding area with food for many years.
Today the Dubrovnik Highlands offer holidays for adventurers interested in the "wild western life style." Its rough, rocky, pine forest country offers a unique blend of freedom to explore and enjoy. About 30 minutes by car from Trebinje is the famous Bilece Lake. This is a huge reservoir, built with the help of a dam which provides eco friendly electricity to the capital. Prior to the lake being built, there was a fertile valley there. About 20 years after the dam went up, huge carp fish were discovered in the lake. These fish draw many anglers to the region.
