Edika

Edika is the nom de plume of Édouard Carali (or Karali), a French comics artist, born in Heliopolis, Egypt on 1940-12-17 who is renowned for his distinctive absurdistic/surrealistic style.

Initially working for the advertising industry in Egypt, he moved to France where his works were published in Pilote, Charlie Mensuel and psykopat (the magazine of his brother Paul Carali, who is also a comic-strip artist) comics magazines. A major milestone in his career as a comics artist was his cooperation with Marcel Gotlieb (also known as Gotlib) in the satirical magazine Fluide Glacial.

A typical Edika comics episode involves a plot structured in a complex and often inconsequential fashion, filled with verbose dialogues and a lot of meta-references.
Recurring characters are Bronski Proko (who appears either alone or with his family) and his family which consists of his wife, Olga, their kids, Paganini (or just Nini) and Georges and a non-speaking cat with an otherwise human behaviour, named Clarke Gaybeul (deliberately homophone to Clark Gable).
