The Envirothon is a nationwide high school environmental competition in the United States and in Canada wherein teams of five students are tested on five categories including: Forestry, Soils/Land Use, Aquatics, Wildlife and a rotating current environmental issue.
Provinces and States across Canada and the United States each have their own competitions from which the champion team earns the privilege of representing their state/province at the Canon Envirothon competition, which will be held in New York in 2007. In areas with a considerable amount of teams regional and district competitions are also held.
At competition each team must write five tests and also must prepare an oral pesentation which the team will present to a panel of judges. Each test is scored out of 100 and the presentation is scored out of 200. The team with the highest cumulative points at the end of the scoring is the winning team.
