[edit] Education and Experience
Driscoll graduated from Bryn Mawr College and received her Bachelor of Arts in History.
She then became employed by U.S. Central Intelligence Agency's domestic anti-terrorism branch, the Counter Terrorist Unit.
Her experience is as follows:
- Finance Department - Virginia Domestic Unit
- Intelligence Analyst - Virginia Domestic Unit
- Agent - Division
- Senior Agent - Division
- Deputy Director - Division
- Director - Los Angeles Domestic Unit
[edit] Director of CTU Los Angeles
She replaced Tony Almeida as the Director of the Los Angeles unit of CTU who was arrested and charged with treason. Almeida aided the escape of Stephen Saunders, who was holding his wife, Michelle Dessler, hostage. He also took Saunders's daughter, Jane from CTU custody and returned her to Saunders in exchange for Dessler. CTU became aware and used this location to arrest Saunders. Driscoll ended up reinstating Almeida by the request of Jack Bauer to help handle the ongoing terrorist threat.
Driscoll's first major action was the firing of Jack Bauer, who at the time was Head of Field Operations. The ostensible reason was his usage and addiction to heroin. Bauer was addicted to heroin only so that he could maintain his cover with the Salazar brothers who were known narcoterrorist and drug dealers. Bauer was working undercover in order to bring them into custody. Driscoll claimed that this was a weakness, but according to her behavior towards him, it seems she did not like him personally and needed an excuse to fire him (her pride would not let her admit that Jack was right about many things). Bauer then went to work as a Special Assistant to Secretary of Defense James Heller.
After a train bombing in California, Driscoll reinstated Bauer to help with the investigation. Later through out the day, she gave him his former position back as Head of Field Ops (the previous head was gunned down near Jack). Her daughter, Maya, suffered from schizophrenia and was brought into the CTU clinic due to reports and complaints from neighbors. Maya kept telling Driscoll that she wanted to leave but Driscoll tried to tell her that she needed to stay at CTU to handle the terrorist threats of the nuclear power plant meltdowns caused by the stolen override device. Not long after that, Maya committed suicide by slitting her wrists in the bathroom while the ill-equipped nurses were not present. Driscoll found out about it and still tried to run CTU. She claimed it would not affect her performance as CTU Director. However, she collapsed and was sent home by Secretary Heller. He appointed Tony Almeida as the temporary Director until a Division analyst was sent to take command. Curtis Manning, then 2nd in command of CTU strongly objected to Tony's appointment and clashed with him over personal issues. Driscoll's replacement turned out to be Michelle Dessler who was now the Deputy Director at CTU Division. When she arrived she replaced her ex-husband as Director of CTU Los Angeles for a number of hours until another Deputy Director at Division, Bill Buchanan, arrived at took command for the remainder of the day. After the terrorist crisis ended, he remained the Director of CTU Los Angeles until the takeover by Homeland Security mid way through day 5.
