Ernst Zinner

Ernst Zinner (1886-1970) was a German astronomer. He rediscovered the Comet Giacobini-Zinner, which had been previously discovered by Michel Giacobini in 1900. Zinner gave Giacobini as a middle name to his son, Maximus. Zinner crater on the moon is named after him.
Zinner received his undergraduate degree in physics at the Technical University of Vienna and his PhD in physics at Washington University in St. Louis.
