FC Derby is a football (soccer) club that had played in the Premier division and the São Vicente Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente and plays in the stadium with a capacity of 4,000 It is the second team won the most cups after independence especially in the 1960s and the 1970s.
In 2006, the Santiago North Zone didn't participate in the premier division since they did not win the championship which meant that FC Derby automatically advances into the premier league since they were champions in 2005.

Its logo colors are black, white and blue, the F.C. Derby is at the top, its animal with the shield is at the middle top part and the soccer ball colored in blue is at the middle bottom part.

Derby FC entered for the first time to the playoffs after independence and won 3-2 over Académico (Espargos) in 1984. Derby FC entered the playoffs in 2000 and challenged Académica Operária, a team from Sal Rei, the first match was tied at 1 apiece, the second and final beat by 1-0 and claimed their 2000 championship. The 2005 championship finals with Sporting Clube da Praia was a tied game in its first match with only one point, the final match beat Sporting Clube da Praia 4-3 and claimed their third and last title for Cape Verde.
