FC Metalurh Zaporizhzhya is a football team in the Ukrainian Premier League, also known as the Vyscha Liha. The club has always been in the top league since the first season in 1992.
On April 22, 2006 the president of Metalurh Zaporizhzhya; Viktor Mezheiko was fired and replaced by the vice president Andriy Kurhansky
Metalurh Zaporizhzhya was the runner-up in the 2006 Ukrainian Cup where they lost 1-0 to Dynamo Kyiv.
In 2006, a new football-only ground was opened in Zaporizhzhya under the name of Central Stadium. The capacity of the new stadium is officially listed as 11,983.
