From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Feels So Good was the second album by Atomic Kitten and features the hit singles "It's OK!", "Tide Is High (Get The Feeling)", "The Last Goodbye/Be With You" (double A-side) and "Love Doesn't Have To Hurt".
The style of the album is comparable with the first album and consists mainly of pop ballads, happy songs and one cover version. After releasing a cover version of "Eternal Flame" on the previous album, Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles decided to write a track for the album called "Love Doesn't Have To Hurt". The girls team up with Rob Davis for the songwriting and production of several songs and as a result Kylie Minogue with whom he frequently collaborated, also donates a song, "Feels So Good", to the album. Out of gratitude and because they feel it is a great title, the girl band decided to name the album after that song.
The album performed well on the charts with both Feels So Good sold nearly Platinum in first week and the single "The Tide Is High" becoming number 1 in the same week selling 145,000 copies in the first week [1],they were the second girl band to enter the no.1 at singles and albums charts at the same time and the first were the Spice girls and the third were Sugababes . During the release of the single "The Last Goodbye/Be With You", the album climbed back to the Top 10 in two weeks. The album is certified double Platinum. [2] The album was further promoted with the simultaneous release of the book Atomic Kitten: So Good, So Far by Ian McLeish in which the girl group gave an insight look into their early career.

"The Tide Is High" is a cover of the 1965 song by The Paragons. Just like the previous cover by Blondie the Atomic Kitten version also reached the number 1 position in the United Kingdom in September 2002. This time the song was remade with keyboards and make it more pop oriented. The cover was inspired by the Blondie single, however it was remade from the original track. A total of about 400,000 copies [13] were sold in the United Kingdom were it was certified Gold [14]. The single was certified Platinum in New Zealand. [15]

The Last Goodbye/Be With You was the third single of the second Atomic Kitten album Feels So Good. It was released as a double A-side in the United Kingdom, but in Europe it was released as "The Last Goodbye" even though it featured "Be With You" as well and used the same cover illustration with a modified text. The single "Be With You" was later released seperately in Europe in March 2003. 210,000 copies were sold in the UK. Be With You samples the track Last Train to London from Electric Light Orchestra's album Discovery. |
