Ficar is an expression in gíria (Brazilian type of slang) representing an intimate relationship without commitment and of casual nature. Ficar is different from namorar (having a boyfriend or girlfriend) in way that namorar includes fidelity - it usually implies certain form of promise to be faithful to the partner. The other difference is that ficar has usually shorter duration.
