Fushimi-no-miya
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fushimi House (伏見宮家) is the oldest of the shinnōke, branches of the Imperial Family which are eligible to succeed to the Chrysanthemum Throne if the main line should die out. It was founded by Imperial Prince Yoshihito (栄仁親王), the son of the Northern Emperor Sukō. All of the much later ōke were branches off of the Fushimi-no-miya house, all but one of them being created by sons of Fushimi-no-miya Kuniye.
Emperor Go-Hanazono was the son of the 3rd Fushimi-no-miya.
Because the house was founded by a Northern Pretender, the first three are often not counted as legitimate Fushimi-no-miya Princes.
Past Fushimi-no-miya (all names in full begin with Fushimi-no-miya (伏見宮). The first set of dates are birth and death, the second set are terms as Fushimi-no-miya (where known). Unless stated otherwise, each Fushimi-no-miya is the son of his predecessor
