The Gary SouthShore RailCats are a Minor league baseball team in the Northern League based in Gary, Indiana. Their home field is the U.S. Steel Yard.The RailCats are the 2005 Northern league champions.
Despite playing in the Chicagoland metropolitan area, the RailCats are exempt from a rule that prohibits an affiliated team from moving within 75 miles of the area, to which the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox have territorial rights.
