General Mariano Escobedo International Airport (IATA: MTY, ICAO: MMMY) is an international airport located in Apodaca, Nuevo León, Mexico. Together with Del Norte International Airport, General Mariano Escobedo International Airport handles domestic and international operations for the city of Monterrey and its metropolitan area.
The airport is considered one of the most modern airports in North America serving up to 4.1 million passengers per year. Eighty percent of passenger traffic is domestic, primarily from the cities of Mexico City, Guadalajara, Chihuahua, and Tijuana, and twenty percent of passenger traffic is international, primarily from the United States cities of Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and Los Angeles. There are almost 300 daily flights to more than 35 destinations in Mexico, North America, and Europe.
The airport serves as a hub for Aviacsa and Aeroméxico. Airport terminals were renovated and expanded on 2003, and a new project has been considered to construct a new terminal for all of those Low-cost carrier (LCC) that are now operating in Mexico. Construction would begin in early 2007 and could be finished for 2008.
