Grayingham
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Grayingham is a small village in Lincolnshire, near Kirton in Lindsey, about nine miles NE of Gainsborough and ten miles S of Scunthorpe. The name Grayingham comes from the Old English Gra(ga)+inga+ham for "homestead of the family of a man named Graeg". The name appears in the 1086 Domesday Book as Graingeham.[1]
The local church, Saint Radegund's is a very ancient structure in origin. However, it was mostly rebuilt in 1773 or 1797, except for the tower. Later on, in 1870, the church was thoroughly restored and then reroofed in 1906. [2]
