Health Canada

Health Canada is the department of the government of Canada with responsibility for national public health.
Health Canada's goal is to improve Canadian life by making improving Canadian longevity, lifestyle and use of public healthcare. It seeks to establish an adaptable, sustainable, world-class regulatory system enhancing access to safe and effective products, promotes transparency, and better coordinates research and development and the healthcare system.
The Department is based on a departmental-agency model and is organised into a series of functional and administrative Branches and a specialist agency regulating pesticides. There are also several research laboratories and specialist offices.
The current Minister of Health is Tony Clement, a Conservative Member of Parliament appointed to the position by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
