[edit] English pronunciation
Is there really an english pronunciation for his name? I think we just fucked his name up, but that doesn't make it correct. What makes sense to me is that boh-dah is the correct pronunciation, and lots of people mutilate his name - especially over in america. Fresheneesz 07:38, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yes there is. His colleagues at Bell Labs used to call him using the English version. He apparently did not object. The english version is also used in North American universities. His family however preferred the dutch version. This information is from the "In memoriam" citation of the IEEE given in the article. It is telling that the author of the "In memoriam" paper mentions that someone must mention the different ways to pronounce the name so that wrong pronunciations such as the one rhyming with the word abode can be avoided. This is why I included it in the article. Dr.K. 00:30, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
