Here I Stand

Here I Stand may refer to:
- "Here I stand, I can do no other, God help me." - according to tradition, Martin Luther's conclusion to his speech at the Diet of Worms. (The spokesman for Emperor Charles V had asked if he would recant his criticisms of the Roman Catholic Church and his doctrinal theses.) The German original of the phrase is "Hier stehe ich; ich kann nicht anders. Gott helfe mir! Amen." Many scholars are convinced that these words were never actually said, since they do not appear in any contemporary accounts of the Diet.
