Houston Food Bank

The Houston Food Bank, founded in 1982 is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to disaster relief. According to its website the foundation provides 20 million pounds of food each year, feeding 250,000 people each month in 18 southeast Texas counties.[1]
The bank also provides money and food donations to evacuees from disasters. The Houston Food Bank is known for its low overheard -- 2.7% of operation costs. [2]
