Hungry Duck
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hungry Duck is a Moscow night club popular during Russia’s roaring 90’s. It was known for extreme examples of bar dancing, stripping, casual sex, drink specials, fighting and drunken teenage girls. It was cited by many publications as "the most notorious bar in the world". According to many expats then working in Moscow, behaviour at the bar was remarkable for the complete absence of individual and group inhibitions. "Debauched" has been an oft used description.
Ladies' Night in particular was notorious, with the evening catering for what became frenzied crowds of young women in an advanced state of uninhibited sexual excitement. Many male strippers were physically assaulted, and more, by drunken female patrons. Other nights were not terribly different and there are still video clips of the activities at the Hungry Duck available on the Internet. The general tone of the place has since mellowed somewhat.
The bar was established by now long term and well known Moscow nightclub entrepreneur, expat Canadian Doug Steele, who began club development in Moscow in the early 90s (including Doug and Marty's Boar House).
It is located at: 9/6 Pushechnaya Ul. (M. Kuznetsky Most), Bldg. 1 (through the courtyard next to the Kuznetsky Most metro station), 923-6158, 8pm-6am, Tue. & Fri. 7pm-6am.
