I Keep Forgettin'

"I Keep Forgettin'" is the title of two different songs. The first was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The second was written by Michael McDonald and Ed Sanford.
Leiber and Stoller wrote "I Keep Forgettin'" in the early 1960s, and it was originally recorded by Chuck Jackson. David Bowie recorded a version of the song for his 1984 album Tonight. It was voted one of the worst songs in Bowie's career by his fans at the Teenage Wildlife web site.
Of the second song, Michael McDonald recorded it as a duet with his sister Maureen for If That's What It Takes, his first solo album away from The Doobie Brothers, and it reached number four on the Billboard Pop Singles charts. While the two songs are not the same, the similarities between McDonald's song and the Leiber/Stoller original resulted in the latter being given a songwriting credit.
McDonald's song was sampled by Warren G on his hit single "Regulate", featuring Nate Dogg.
