Miyata Ichiro
Ichiro Miyata is a fictional character in the anime and manga series Fighting Spirit (Japanese Title - はじめの一歩, Hajime no Ippo). Miyata and Ippo, the main protagonist, consider each other to be their greatest rivals. He is a very skilled outboxer that specializes in counter punches. Considered by many to be a boxing prodigy, Miyata uses the boxing style that his father used.

Miyata has been trained by his father since he was young. He joined the Kamogawa Boxing Gym some time before Takamura, but left and went to the Kawahara Boxing Gym after losing to Ippo. This was because he wanted to face Ippo in a professional match, but wouldn't be able to do so if they were from the same gym.

- Ichiro Miyata vs Ippo Makunouchi II
- This was the rematch to the sparring match Miyata and Ippo had three months prior. It was a 4 round, 3 knock down match which Takamura refereed. Miyata's plan to counter punch Ippo was disrupted by Ippo's quick dash-in. Ippo would dash into the counter punch and prevent the full extension of Miyata's arm, there by halving the damage. Miyata eventually weakened Ippo's legs with body blows and had him pinned. At the last moment, Ippo threw a shortened uppercut, which appeared to miss. In actuality, 1cm of Ippo's glove made contact with Miyata's chin. Though there wasn't enough force to make Miyata unconscious, it was enough to jar his brain in his skull and temporarily lose the function of his legs. Unable to get up from the mat before Takamura counted to 10, Miyata lost to everyone's surprise. Miyata then decided to leave and later told Ippo that their record was one win each and that they'd settle in at the East Japan Rookie King Tournament. Because this was a sparring match, this loss did not factor into his professional record.
- Ichiro Miyata vs Ryo Mashiba
- This was the Featherweight semi-finals match (4 rounder) of the East Japan Rookie King Tournament. Miyata lost by KO 2 minutes and 22 seconds into the 3rd round. Miyata clearly outclassed Mashiba, so in a move of desperation, Mashiba stepped on Miyata's foot causing it to sprain. Unable to skillfully dodge and maneuver around the ring, was KO'ed. After the match, Ippo came to see if he was ok, but Miyata couldn't face him. Miyata's father passed on his son's message to Ippo, "I'm sorry"
- Ichiro Miyata vs Jimmy Sisfer
- This was one of the many fights Miyata had while traveling in southeast asia (6 rounder). Miyata won by KO in the 4th round. His father originally turned down the challenge to fight Sisfer, but once Miyata found out (because everyone was calling him a coward for declining) he was furious and insisted to fight. It was this match where Miyata is finally able to use his Jolt Counter. His first attempt to use it in the 3rd round failed, but he was able to succeed in the 4th. After gaining the respect of the Thai audience, Miyata left the ring to applause instead of to angry boos as in previous fights.
- Ichiro Miyata vs Arnie Gregory
- This was the Feather weight title match of the OPBF (Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation) (12 rounder). Miyata won by KO, 1 minute 34 seconds into the 4th round.
