James Beard, is a former professional wrestling referee. Beard began as a referee in Texas in the mid 80's. During his career he worked for World Class, USWA, GWF and CWF, all based out of the Sportatorium in Dallas, Texas. Beard also spent significant time as a regular referee in Japan for organizations such as SWS, NOW and Big Japan. His overseas experiences and reputation as a skilled ring performer and valuable backstage hand made him well known in professional wrestling circles during the 1980's and 1990's. After a short stint in the Memphis based USWA, Beard retired from full time involvement in the wrestling business in 1998. James Beard recently had a WWE tryout. He was going to be hired, but the offer was rescinded after he discussed his experience on internet message boards. He was harshly critical of on-air talent in these posts, especially Shannon Moore.
