Japonic languages
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Japanese-Ryukyuan languages, misleadingly called by some scholars the 'Japonic languages',[citation needed] constitute a language family that is agreed to have descended from a common ancestral language known as Proto-Japanese-Ryukyuan (or 'Proto-Japonic').[citation needed]

- Western Japanese (represented by all Mainland Japanese dialects)
- Eastern Western Japanese dialects, including most dialects east of the Kanto region
