Jif (peanut butter)

Jif is a brand of peanut butter made by The J.M. Smucker Co., which purchased the name from Procter & Gamble in 2001. It debuted in 1958 and became very popular among kids and adults alike. In 1974, Extra Crunchy Jif was introduced, to even bigger sales. In an effort to market to the health-conscious, the company introduced Simply Jif in 1991; this includes less sodium and sugar than regular Jif. Reduced Fat Jif was introduced in 1995.

For decades, hundreds of TV commercial have aired for the product, ending with the familiar tagline, "Choosy mothers choose Jif" and, later, "Choosy moms choose Jif."
Two popular commercials for Jif have aired in recent years.
One features two young girls having a sleepover. When the guest wasn't interested in a game or kids video, the host offers to split a peanut butter sandwich with her, asking, "Does your mother cut down the middle or across?" The other girl excitedly replies, "Across!"
The other features not a mother, but a father instead. He's about to have a slice of bread with a spread of the peanut butter in a living room when his young daughter walks in, asking, "Hey dad, what are you doing?" He replies, "I'm fixing a snack. Come on, plenty of room", in which she joins him on the couch. After she sees him fold the slice in half, she asks why. He responds that his father did the same, and he wanted to be like him. She replies with, "That's silly!" Though she, too, folds her slice, and her father laughs as the two cuddle close enjoying their snack. The commercial ends with the slightly modified tagline, "Choosy moms, and dads, choose Jif."
Jif has been around for about 45 years. There are now 6 different kinds of Jif Peanut Butter. These include: Regular, Extra Crunchy, Simply Jif (low sodium and sugar) ,Reduced Fat, Reduced Fat Crunchy, and Peanut Butter and Honey. Jif is also available in a 6-pack of individual servings of Jif Peanut butter, sold under the name "Jif to Go."
