John Gretton, 1st Baron Gretton

John Gretton, 1st Baron Gretton PC CBE (1867 – 2 June 1947) was a British Conservative politician.
The eldest son of John Gretton of Burton upon Trent, he was educated at Harrow School.
He was formerly Chairman of Bass, Ratcliff and Gretton Ltd, and served as a Colonel in the Territorial Army. In 1900 he married Hon. Maud Helen de Moleyns, youngest daughter of Dayrolles Blakeney Eveleigh-de-Moleyns, 4th Baron Ventry
He served as Conservative Member of Parliament for Derbyshire South from 1895-1906, for Rutland from 1907-1918 and for Burton, Staffordshire, from 1918 until 1943.
He was awarded the CBE in 1919 and appointed a Privy Counsellor in 1926. In 1944 he was raised to the peerage as Baron Gretton, of Stapleford.
