The John Mayer Trio is the brainchild of pop singer/songwriter John Mayer, who, in 2005, decided to move his music in a new direction, pursuing a more blues-influenced style and paying homage to the great musicians of his childhood days. In October 2005, they toured as the opening act for The Rolling Stones on some A Bigger Bang Tour dates. In March 2006, Mayer announced that the trio would disband. However, the trio performed every song on Mayer's new studio album, Continuum. On September 12, 2006, the day of Mayer's solo release Continuum (which contains songs from the Trio album TRY!), announced on his blog[1] that the gang would reunite and produce a studio album.
