John Trapp

John Trapp (1601 – 1669) was an Anglican who wrote a comprehensive commentary on the bible. This large compendium is still read today and is known for its pithy statements and quotable prose. Trapp's volumes are quoted frequently by other religious writers, notably Charles Spurgeon. Trapp was schoolmaster at the Stratford-Upon-Avon School starting in 1629. He was a supporter of Oliver Cromwell and was arrested for a short time for his support of Parliament.
