Juniper Lane is an alternative, four-piece band from the Washington, DC area. Their music is diverse and interesting, with an alternative/folk rock sound, characterized by soaring vocals and richly textured music.
The band was founded by vocalist/pianist, Vivion Smith, and guitarist, Chris Bonavia, who started writing music together in the spring of 1998. By that fall, the band had grown to include drummer Eddie Pasa, and bassist Brian Frederick.
Their debut album, Counting, was released in 1999. It was followed up with Tightrope in 2001, and Sirens From a Mile Back in 2003. The band is currently working on their fourth, as yet untitled album.
The band has been a staple at outdoor music festivals, performing at Washington, D.C.'s HFStival, XM Radio's Audio Test Drive, and Atlanta, Georgia's On the Bricks. Their music has been featured in MTV's reality show, "Road Rules."
The band took off most of 2004 for Vivion Smith to recover from a nearly fatal rock-climbing accident. Smith sang in college with the University of Virginia New Dominions.
