Kaio de Almeida

Kaio Márcio Ferreira Costa de Almeida (born October 19, 1984 in João Pessoa, Paraíba) is a Brazilian swimmer, who broke the 50 m butterfly world record in 25m pool (short course) on December 17, 2005 with a time of 22.60. This bettered the exisiting record of 22.71 of US sprinter Ian Crocker from October 2004.
Almeida set his record at the Brazil Senior Championships, where he earlier won the 100 butterfly in 50.62. He was a member of the Brazilian Swimming Team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he finished 17th in the 100 m butterfly and 19th in the 200 m butterfly.
