Khunrath

- This page is about the physical technique Khunrath. See Heinrich Khunrath for information on the alchemist of that name
The arm of Khunrath is the ancient art of mobility using only hands, or in modern terms, handstands. This art was first practised in ancient Mesapotamia, although it reached as far as Jerusalem, Rome and Germania. The art of Khunrath is not practised anymore, although it is now visible in circus acts and gymnastics. Many people are unaware of the origins of the handstand, seeing as it had nearly completely died out by the 15th century. In modern times, it is now used in symbolism of life and death, and is notable in certain images of Baphomet, particularly the Baphomet image by Eliphas Lévi.
