The station signed on June 3, 1955 as a dual ABC/CBS affiliate. In the later years of the station, the ABC affiliation in Lafayette moved to KATC (which already aired part of ABC's network schedule).

Today, the station airs local news and talk with shows like Passe Partout, Meet Your Neighbor, and Eyewitness News. The station also airs syndicated programming such as Live with Regis and Kelly, Dr. Phil, Judge Judy, Millionaire, Entertainment Tonight and The Insider.
