Larry Hryb, known by the pseudonym Major Nelson, is the Director of Programming for Xbox Live, the popular Microsoft gaming network. His popular blog Xbox Live's Major Nelsonprovides an unofficial insider look at operations at Microsoft's Xbox division; in particular, he discusses the online features and functionality first and foremost. He also discusses recent games and other news that interests him. Finally, he interviews several of the people involved with the Xbox and Xbox 360 at Microsoft. He also produces a weekly podcast named Major Nelson Radio with such news in it. His show regularly hosts interviews with people in the gaming community, and offers prizes (generally a Major Nelson branded Xbox Live headset to listeners through his 'Name the Game' segment, where he plays a short audio clip from a game, and a winner is drawn from the correct entries. On Monday, November 06, 2006, he celebrated his 200th podcast, which was marked with a nearly two and a half hour show.
Hryb is a graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and has worked for over 15-years in professional broadcasting. [citation needed]
