"Learn to Fly" is the first single from the Foo Fighters' third album There Is Nothing Left to Lose. It was released mainly on two different discs in 1999.
The music video was shot in the UK and won a Grammy Award; It featured the group members in a plane, disguised as flight attendants, pilots, etc; and the band as themselves, having to land the plane and save the day (possible reference to the film Airplane!) after two airline mechanics (played by Tenacious D) hide cocaine in the coffee-maker. A majority of the roles are played by lead singer Dave Grohl. Some of the other roles involve an air-hostess (played by drummer Taylor Hawkins) and a baby (played by bassist Nate Mendel). Accompanying the opening and closing scenes of the film clip is a muzak version of Everlong. "Learn to Fly" is one the bands biggest hits along with "Best of You," and "Everlong."
