Linda Sue Park

Linda Sue Park (born March 25, 1960) is an author of children's fiction. She won the 2002 Newbery Medal for her novel A Single Shard.
Park was born in Urbana, Illinois in 1960. She is a Korean American, and has used her research into her heritage as the setting for her books: A Single Shard and The Kite Fighters are both historical novels set in Korea. Other works include Project Mulberry, Seesaw Girl, and When My Name Was Keoko, a book about her mother and uncle while they were growing up in Korea during the Japanese occupation. Park has also written various children's books.
Park competed in the television game show Jeopardy! on an episode aired October 20, 2006, where she finished in 3rd place. [1]
