[edit] Final Fantasy 6 PC?
Under the PC games there is a listing for a Final Fantasy VI PC port. This was news to me, so I did some searching. There is no source cited for the listing. There is no mention of a PC port, cancelled or otherwise, in the Wikipedia entry for FFVI. Extensive googling, including the alternative "Final Fantasy III" moniker produce exactly 0 relevant results, not even rumors. Considering the lack of even the most baseless speculation on account of fan communities, it's appearance here is utterly baffling. I think it can be safely removed, and I've done just that until someone can show evidence that this port was ever planned. --Fenix —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.87.192.170 (talk • contribs) .
- There was a discussion of this in Talk:Final Fantasy VI. If I remember correctly, the only "evidence" was some mention on a fan site, and a screenie that could very well be just a magazine mockup or a fan photoshopping. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 14:14, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Queries
Bee 52 for the NES was infact released for the NES.
Sorry not sure if i know enough on the subject but under N64 where it says:
# Animal Forest (US release scrapped in favour of Animal Crossing; available for GameCube. Both are unreleased in Europe)
does this mean animal crossing on the gamecube? In which case animal crossing on teh game cube has recently made it to europe and this info needs updating
- Actually Animal Forest in Japan was released in North America on The Gamecube as Cubivore I'm not sure weather or not it was released in europe.
-
- Animal Forest was not released in North America as Cubivore. As far as I know, Cubivore was only released for the GameCube. In Japan Cubivore was released as Doubutsu Banchou, different than Doubutsu no Mori (Animal Forest) for the Nintendo 64 or Doubutsu no Mori Plus (Animal Crossing) for the GameCube. So, basically, although Doubutsu no Mori Plus is an upgraded version of Doubutsu no Mori, they and Cubivore are three different games. And only two of these (Animal Crossing and Cubivore) were released in North America (not sure about Cubivore in Europe). --TheDotGamer 20:54, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Freespace 3
It lists Freespace 3. Freespace 3 was never even started. Volition stated they would like to do a Freespace 3, and Derek Smart expressed just an interest in buying the liscence from Interplay. The liscense was not bought, the game was not started. Infact for all we know Interplay have allowed Volition to do a third game, and it is currently in development. Although the chances are slim. - 62.254.0.38 01:54, 29 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] PC?
I think the list of "PC" games should be split into DOS, Windows, Linux and other operating systems. After all, numerous OS's can run on a PC. Even though today the predominant OS for the boxes is Windows, it used to be DOS. "PC" is not a specific platform. Anyone agree, disagree? — Frecklefoot | Talk 15:32, July 26, 2005 (UTC)
- I agree. And in that case, wouldn't the "PC" category be moved under Microsoft next to the Xbox, as Microsoft developed the dominant operating systems on AT compatible PCs? --Damian Yerrick 05:40, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] On some N64 games
There's stuff on the list like "Metroid 64", "Fire Emblem 64" and "EarthBound 64". I think there should be a distinction between games that were actually announced and never materialized, and games that never even got seriously planned for N64 - in other words, actual game plans and wishful thinking. Did Nintendo ever announce any plans at all to make Metroid for N64, for instance? I haven't heard of any really solid proof that Metroid 64 would have been went as far as an announcement (Dan Owsen gives a definite "Maybe" in 1998 when asked for a possibility of a N64 Metroid, but that's all...) --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 11:02, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Metroid 64 was certainly never announced, and I have no idea about Fire Emblem 64, but Earthbound 64 (Mother 3) was definitely NOT wishful thinking. The game was under development for a number of years, screenshots were released and the game was disappointingly cancelled. If you read the entry you'd know that. --Fenix
I removed Metroid 64, as that game for all we know was never anounced, and since this is an encyclapedia we should only include verifyable facts, not speculation. Metroid 64 right now is questionable so we shouldn't include it unless we have verifiable info on Nintendo announcing it. I also deleted Metal Gear Solid, for a similar reason. (I'm not sure a N64 version was ever announced: if you know anything about it please provide a link) Deathawk 15:02, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- I was reading through some old issues of EGM recently and Metroid 64 was indeed mentioned in one of them. I'll have to look for it again to find an actual quote. JJBunks 13:54, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I did find the issue of EGM that mentioned Metroid 64, but it was only dispelling a rumor that Jet Force Gemini was actually Metroid 64 in disguise (which it of course wasn't). I'm pretty sure that Metroid 64 was never announced as being in development. JJBunks 18:52, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
They were going to make a game called Metroid 64 that would have been sweet Caleb09
[edit] Of Tingle, Megaman, and Kirby
Why is Tingle RPG listed as being cancelled? There's no report that it has been. At least, I haven't seen anything on IGN, GameSpot, Joystiq, etc... that says it has. Unless proof can be provided, I'm removing it.
Also, I've added Mega Man V for Game Boy Color. It was talked about in Nintendo Power long ago (even a screenshot or two, if memory serves me right). As well as Mega Man Anniversary Collection for Game Boy Advance, as it has been officially cancelled.
Also, before it was cancelled, wasn't Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble 2 (GCN/GBA) remade into a non-Kirby game (but was still cancelled)? Didn't it become something like "Rock and Roll Rally" or something like that? --BPM 02:53, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
The part about Tingle RPG was mentioned in a fake interview for April Fools day. It is not cancelled. I also removed Megaman V from the list becasue according to Gamefaqs it was released for the original gameboy [1]. If there was suspose to be an additional Gameboy Color version that was not released can you please provide a source because I can't find anything about it. Finally I also removed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time GC due to it being a tech demo and not an offically announced game.
[edit] What Does It Mean to be Canceled?
Just simply, could there please be some clarification on the page on what it means to be canceled. MBob 05:26, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
A cancelled game is a game that was in development and is well cancelled! For lack of money etc. Caleb09
I would restrict this to announced games that were cancelled. If it was never announced, onyl certain features are cancelled rather than the whole game, etc, it doesn't count. Ace of Sevens 04:43, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Most games are under some level of development before they are formally announced. If they are cancelled before they are officially announced by the developer or publisher, they shouldn't be included? What if a third party like a magazine or website reports a game is under development and subsequently cancelled? Metroid Dread is the best example I can think of that falls into this category.
On a similar note, many game cancellations are not officially announced, but development stops and the game is shelved indefinitely. Radjago 23:26, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Picassio
Recommend changing the entry on Picassio, as all versions have been cancelled. Currently the article lists the Gamecube and PC versions as having been released.
[edit] State of Emergency 2
The State of Emergency 2 page mentions a February 2006 release date, and Gamespot has a review for it. Was this game really cancelled?
167.206.128.33 23:42, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- It came out for PS2 and PSP. It was cancelled for several other systems. Ace of Sevens 19:46, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Accuracy
A lot of the games here I think are pretty dubious, meaning there's little evidence they were ever being worked on in the first place. I'm planning on doing a massive cleaning and delete every game where I can't find any evidence for. Obviously, I' can onyl do this for the last 10 years or so. Before that, there probably wouldn't be anything on the internet. I've already removed a few such games, like Halo for Dreamcast. Does anyone object to this? Ace of Sevens 19:50, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, here's the plan. I want to cut this list down to games that were announced and never released at all on the announced platforms. That means no regional cancellations and no games that were rumored to be in the works, but never announced. If no one objects, I'll start deleting things in a few days. Ace of Sevens 19:18, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- An external link for each entry would help, but then every entry would have an external link. Regional cancellations seem trivial, but help clarify whether a game was cancelled worldwide if it was announced, or just regionally (Savage Empire for SNES). There are other games that have had considerable development on them without being officially announced.
-
-
- The problem is WP:NOT. Matierial has to be verifiable. My concern about allowing rumors and regional cancellations was that pretty much any game that wasn't released in all territories (i.e. most of them) coudl be listed, because there will always at least be a rumor of games for any given region. [edit] Battlemaniacs for SMS and Baldur's Gate GBA Version
Battletoads and Battlemaniacs were released in Brazil, a port of Game Gear game.
Baldur's Gate were release too, in 2004. 200.100.105.238 22:15, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Halo 2.5
Some one add Halo 2.5 on the list ?
