Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal
"The Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal shall be awarded to a member of the Texas Military Forces, another officially organized state militia, or the United States Armed Forces for exceptionally outstanding achievement or service to Texas in performance of a duty of great responsibility while serving with the Texas Military Forces." The award is also suitable for recognizing a senior commander upon retirement on the basis of outstanding fidelity in lifelong military service over many decades.
