Mads Eriksen (b. 15 July 1977) is the artist behind the Norwegian comic strips M and Gnom. He was born in Malvik, a little east of Trondheim in Sør-Trøndelag. His career as an artist started in 2000, when his first comic, Gnom, was accepted into Smult, a magazine for promising cartoon artists.
Gnom quickly became popular and when Bladkompaniet stopped publishing Smult, Eriksen moved into the monthly magazine Pondus with his new series, M, while Gnom was ended.
M (short for Mads) is a semi-superfictional, semi-biographical strip featuring him and his girlfriend, The Madam. All the Gnom-comics were published by Bladkompaniet in an album in 2005. M has been published in two albums so far, with more to come.
M is published daily with a strip Monday through Saturday in the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet and on the internet portal Start.no. The last two years he has also drawn their advent calendar and answered questions submitted by the users in an event once a year.
Mads Eriksen currently lives in Trondheim, Norway. He is a self-declared geek and a big fan of several popular culture phenomena, especially Star Wars.
