Making Movies is the third album by British rock band Dire Straits, released in 1980. Rolling Stone ranked the album #52 in their survey of the "100 Best Albums of the 80s." Indigo Girls covered "Romeo and Juliet" on Rites of Passage in 1992. It is considered by many fans as the pinnacle of Dire Straits' career. It was also included in Douglas Adams' book So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish. Though the name was never mentioned Adams described Mark Knopfler as "having an extraordinary ability to make a Schecter Custom Stratocaster hoot and sing like angels on a Saturday night, exhausted from being good all week and needing a stiff beer."
It was remastered and released with the rest of the Dire Straits catalog on September 19, 2000.
