Marcatel was created from the strategic union between Radio Beep, a pioneering company in radar systems in Mexico, main partner of MARCATEL, and the United States companies Westel and Broadwing (formerly IXC Communications).

After constituting themselves legally in 1994, the company gained concession to operate in 1995. In 1996, Marcatel began to offer long distance and international telephone service in the cities of Querétaro, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Puebla.

Since then, Marcatel has grown, providing integral services of telecommunications to companies, such as long distance and international, toll-free telephone numbers, prepaid cards, dedicated private lines and Internet service.

From its growth of the communication networks, Marcatel created Marcanet, a data service for businesses in Mexico to be able to participate in the national and foreign markets. Internet service became the technology of fast growth in the last 10 years, along with remote networks, electronic mail, electronic commerce and virtual private networks.

In order to offer services of telecommunications of high quality to competitive prices MARCATEL has developed a great infrastructure that works for the benefit of our clients. With an investment of 75 million dollars we have built the first stage of our optical fiber network of 2000 kilometers that interconnects our three commutation power stations located in the cities of Monterrey, Mexico and Guadalajara. These power stations communicate to the United States, Canada and the rest of the world through the connection with our Broadwing partner in the Reynosa-McAllen border.

In order to offer our Marcanet service Dedicated in the cities of Mexico and Monterrey we leaned in this infrastructure of telecommunications which allows to tell us on a direct exit towards the United States. Additionally we have invested in equipment of last generation marks Cisco, that allows us to provide services of Internet with capacities of up to 155 Mbit/s.

Our Broadwing partner has a network of 15,700 miles, level OC-192, pertaining to the foundation of the Gemini2000 project introduced in December of 1998. Gemini2000 as well, is first backbone of Internet of coast to coast for commercial uses and of investigation.

This infrastructure supported with redundant connections allows to guarantee to our clients a reliable service of high performance and superb quality. In MARCATEL we are it jeopardize in providing to our clients services of vanguard, we will therefore continue increasing our infrastructure incorporating new technologies, as well as a greater cover than is translated in greater benefits for our clients.

In order to guarantee a customized service to our clients we counted on the Center of Telephone Attention which along with our Center of Operators works the 24 hours of the day the 365 days of the year in the resolution of doubts and attention to problems. We counted in addition on 4 regional offices to Sales in Monterrey, Mexico, Guadalajara and Leon. Additionally we have presence in 17 Centers of Sale and Attention to the Client in the rest of the republic.
