Maripol

Maripol (full name Maripol Fauque) was born and raised in France before moving to New York in 1976. She is a fashion designer and stylist who has had influence on the careers of many influential artists, including Grace Jones, Debbie Harry, (Blondie), Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Naomi Campbell. Maripol is also known as a poloroid photogrpaher who has exhibited her photos in art galleries all over the world and in 2005 had a new book of her life's photography published. [1]
Maripol best known for designing for and styling pop singer Madonna during the Madonna and Like a Virgin albums in the mid-1980s. Maripol's trademark black rubber bracelets, jewellery and crucifixes became as iconic as Madonna herself in these early years.
Thanks to Madonna's celebrity endorsement, Maripol had much success setting up her own shop in New York during the mid-1980s and also made a line of official Madonna jewellery and accessories.
She has also worked as a film producer, most notably on Downtown 81, a film that featured Blondie lead singer Deborah Harry and artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Although Maripol's film was shot in 1980-81, it was not until 1999 that the film was rediscovered, cleaned up and released.
